BLOOD SERUM TESTING

asure quality logo

There are a number of stages and protocols to follow if you wish to have your levels determined and assessed.  It is important to follow these carefully to get useful test results.

The 4 stages and protocols are:
Stage 1

Have the blood taken and serum sample prepared at an appropriate facility.

On the day of the blood sampling, have a low-fat breakfast and lunch.

Have the blood sample taken at a Medical Laboratory or similar.  This facility must use the correct type of sampling tubes, be able to separate the red blood cells from the serum using a specific process, and take sufficient blood to give 30 – 50 ml of serum

Chill to 4C or freeze the serum immediately so that it can be sent to the laboratory.  The sample can be chilled to 4C if it can be delivered to the laboratory the next day, otherwise it should be frozen.
Stage 2

Send the serum sample to the laboratory.

The sample must stay chilled or frozen as needed, and should also be so that it does not break or leak in transport.

Stage 3

Have the sample tested and result reported by the laboratory.

The laboratory you choose should be qualified and experienced in testing serum samples for dioxin levels.  Note, test results may take between 14 – 28 days to become available.

Stage 4

Have the test result interpreted by a qualified and experienced person.

Laboratories undertaken this testing will usually be able to assist with the details of the diet, blood collection, serum preparation, and courier service.

Laboratories generally do not interpret the test results.
